Creating a Useful Business Plan and Funding Basics

Part 2 of our four-part series on developing your idea into a business

The November program is the 2nd in a 4 part series designed to assist entrepreneurs starting companies.  Michael Schrader, CEO of Vaxess Technologies, will give the Keynote address on how to develop a business plan.  Michael and his team won the Harvard Business Plan Competition as well as the Harvard University President’s Challenge, a social enterprise competition with a focus on developing entrepreneurial solutions to global social problems. Vaxess was also a MassChallenge Finalist. Come and hear about Michael’s experience in developing a winning business plan.

The November Case Presenter is Marc Girolimetti, Founder of Red Raider Studios, a mobile game developer.  Their first game, Silo, is a strategy/speed game where you have to move a certain number of balls through the silo, before your opponent. Players can quickly grasp the gameplay, because it requires math to execute the moves.  Current platform plans are iOS, Android, Windows 8 and Facebook. Marc will present his business plan to our expert panel and take questions from the audience.  It’s an event not to be missed for any entrepreneur in the business plan and fundraising stages.

Michael Schrader

Keynote Speaker - Michael Schrader, CEO, Vaxess Technologies

Michael Schrader is co-founder and CEO of Vaxess Technologies where he focuses primarily on corporate strategy, business development, and managing financial performance. Prior to founding Vaxess, Michael worked in both R&D and manufacturing in a variety of different industries ranging from automotive to telecommunications to technology. Michael holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University.  Vaxess Technologies is working to commercialize a Tufts University platform technology that stabilizes vaccines so they can be stored and shipped around the world without refrigeration – eliminating the need for the cold chain. The technology will stabilize vaccines in a silk matrix. Vaxess will lower the cost of distribution and storage for all vaccines while expanding access in areas with poor cold chain infrastructure.  Upon delivery to the end health care worker, the vaccine can be reconstituted and delivered to the patient in the traditional manner.
