Verionix
Top honors in WPI Venture Forum's 11th annual Business Plan Contest were awarded to Verionix Inc. President Chris Doughty made his pitch to the panel of judges at the June, 2004 monthly program. Verionix has developed a gas analyzer that monitors industrial processes and conducts environmental studies. The company shipped its first unit in February.

Twenty other entrepreneurs submitted business plans in hopes of snaring first prize. Runners-up were Predictive Online Devices, a company that specializes in condition-based maintenance using wireless communications, and Biological Energy Corporation, a seed stage organization, which is developing breakthrough biological approaches to the production of hydrogen as an environmentally friendly energy source.
Verionix received $20,000 in cash and services. Mirick O'Connell ,LLP; Hamilton Brook Smith & Reynolds, P.C.; and Gesmer Updegrove, LLP were this year's gold sponsors.
